There are five possibilities for enforcing and collecting your judgment:
Do it yourself
You have probably already tried collecting on your own and have found how time-consuming, costly, and frustrating that can be. You are not alone. About 80% of judgments are ignored and never paid.
You need professional assistance.
Hire an attorney
About 5% of attorneys do collections but they will charge you a retainer fee in advance and an hourly rate of about $200.00 even if they are not able to collect. Most are not interested in trying to collect smaller judgments.
Hire a Private Investigator
Private Investigators are experienced at locating people and assets but will also charge you a fee in advance whether they collect or not.
Try a collection agency
Collection agencies usually just harass your debtor with a barrage of phone calls and letters. This technique seldom works. We don't harass anybody. We just go for the money.
Let DRSWMI handle everything!
We do not charge any fee in advance and we only keep a percentage of the amount when we actually collect. It's a simple business arrangement; no recovery - no fee!
After you assign your judgment to DRSWMI, we do the following:
- We use a variety of skip tracing techniques and are able to access several private databases that are used by law enforcement and investigative agencies.
- We may obtain credit reports on your debtor.
- We may obtain copies of your debtor's tax returns.
- We extract information from criminal and civil court records.
- If your debtor has moved away, we request local assistance from a network of judgment recovery professionals in approximately 40 other states.
- We know how to prepare and effectively use:

- Abstracts
- Affidavits
- Assignments
- Attachments
- Declarations
- Garnishments
- Levies
- Liens
- Motions
- Renewals
- Subpoenas
- Summons
- Warrants
- Withholding orders
- Writs
Some answers to some common judgment recovery questions you might find useful:
Q: How much do I have to pay you?
A: Not one cent out of your pocket.
Q: Is your service really free?
A: No, we get paid part of what is collected from the debtor. This payment amount is negotiated and agreed upon prior to accepting your case.
Q: My debtor has moved away. Can you still collect?
A: It depends on the specifics of your case and the state the debtor resides in. IPhone us right away with your debtor's new address and your case number so we can quickly lookup the laws that are applicable in the debtor's state of residence at no charge to you.
Q: Do you need all of my court papers?
A: No. We just need the name of the court where you sued and the case number and case title (plaintiff name vs. defendant name)
Q: My debtor has filed bankruptcy. Doesn't that mean I won't get paid?
A: Not necessarily. Phone us right away with your case number. We can quickly lookup the status of the bankruptcy case at no cost to you.
Q: My debtor is deceased. Can you still collect?
A: Sometimes. Phone us right away to see if this is possible for your case.
Q: My debtor is in prison. Can you still collect?
A: Only if we can find where he stashed the loot.
Q: How do you find my debtor?
A: We use skip tracing techniques that we prefer to keep secret, (your debtor might be reading this). We are allowed to access proprietary databases that are used by law enforcement and investigative agencies. This information is not available to the general public. One of our sources was used by a government agency to locate terrorist suspects in Florida.
Q: Do I have to contact my debtor again?
A: No, we handle all communications with your debtor.
Q: Do I have to go to court again?
A: No, we handle all post-judgment court filings and appearances.
Q: Do you guarantee to collect my judgment?
A: No, but we promise to try hard and to use every means available. Some debtors truly have no assets and have no income that can be seized. If nothing can be collected, we lose our legal expenses and the time and effort expended trying to collect. You risk nothing.
